Kirsten Hunt- Grass
Board Director
Kirsten Hunt Grass brings over two decades of experience in nursing, with a focus on emergency care and forensic nursing. Raised in a rural community, she values hard work, determination, and giving back, principles that have guided her professional and personal life.
Kirsten holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and is a Nationally Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN) as well as a Nationally Certified Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner for Adults and Adolescents (SANE-A). She has spent 22 years at her local community hospital, primarily in the Emergency Department, where she developed a passion for patient advocacy and forensic care.
Her background in law enforcement and interest in forensics led her to complete Sexual Assault Nurse Examiner (SANE) training a decade ago, followed by Pediatric Sexual Assault training through the University of Michigan-Flint. Currently, Kirsten is one of two SANE-A nurses employed with Michigan Forensic Examiners, where she provides expert, trauma-informed care to survivors of sexual violence.
Recently appointed to the Michigan Forensic Examiners’ Board of Directors, Kirsten is committed to advancing the organization’s mission of eliminating barriers to care, supporting survivors, and fostering community collaboration.
Why do you want to dedicate your time to help govern MFE?
I want to dedicate my time to helping govern MFE because what they offer sexual assault survivors is invaluable. MFE alleviates the stress of having to travel, sometimes hours away, to receive care from a trained nurse. They provide 24/7 coverage for all age groups across four counties and deliver comprehensive, compassionate care to patients. They have also partnered with advocacy organizations to ensure patients receive the best possible care and outcomes. Most importantly, MFE is increasing community awareness, breaking barriers, and removing stigma through education for law enforcement, community members, patients, families, and more. This is an organization worth being involved in.
